FILE INFO
CaptionPolyp inflation/deflation on Montastrea cavernosa. Coral polyps should be the same shape and color on healthy coral colonies. Dr. Raymond Hayes was shocked by the observation of this strange phenomena of inflated and deflated polyps . He failed to generate the interest of local coral reef managers of this severe coral ailment even though he later identified a fungus in the mucus samples we collected from this coral when this picture was taken.
