FILE INFO
CaptionThe areas on the elkhorn coral colonies where the living tissue was lost to the White Pox were soon covered in algae indicating that the water flowing over this reef greatly exceeded the corals nutrient thresholds. Corals have extremely low thresholds for nutrient exposure. These levels were independently identified by Dr. Brian Lapointe and Dr. Peter Bell and were released at the same time from studies conducted on opposite sides of the globe, a very impressive story.
